Older pipe routes and moving clay can hide the true source
In River Oaks, established properties can contain original pipe sections joined to plumbing installed during later alterations. Water lines may run through a slab, attic, wall cavity or crawlspace, and the route is not always obvious from the room where moisture appears. A wet patch or stain can sit some distance from the actual loss after water has travelled along framing, pipe runs or other paths before becoming visible.
Clay soil also moves as conditions change, putting pressure on buried connections and lines close to a slab. That movement can work against a connection without causing an immediate, dramatic break. The visible evidence may be subtle while water continues to escape.
We locate the source before opening finishes or choosing a repair. That helps distinguish a supply-line leak from drainage leakage, irrigation water, roof intrusion or moisture moving through soil. Once the route and pipe material are confirmed, the repair can address the line that is actually leaking rather than the first visible stain.
